Kristina Comes Home
In Copenhagen you can see the sculpture Kristina designed by Dennis Smith. In this article, Dennis Smith tells his story about why he made the sculpture and how it found it's way from America to Denmark.
Dennis Smith's Great-grandmother, Kristina Beck, left Denmark in 1868 to settle down in a new country far away. The sculpture shows her overlooking the sea that she traveled, dreaming of a new life in America. The sculpture can be seen at Amerikakaj in Copenhagen, the area in the harbor where emigrant ships departed for the USA.
