The Little Mermaid
Hans Christian Andersen wrote 156 fairy tales, 6 novels, 3 auto biographies, 5 travel books and 1,000 poems.
The fairy tale about The Little Mermaid was written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). It is a sad story about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince.
The tale was first published in 1837 and has been translated into hundred of languages and adapted to various media including an animated film produced by the Walt Disney Company. That version has a happy end. But the original story does not. Are you familiar with Andersen's tale?
